Modern Slavery Statement for Kulkumry Coffee: The Blesséd Brew

Introduction

Kulkumry Coffee: The Blesséd Brew, located in Mallandur, Chikkamagaluru, India, is a 50-acre estate dedicated to producing high-quality, speciality coffee. As we commence importing our coffee to the UK, we are committed to ensuring that our operations and supply chains are free from modern slavery and human trafficking. This statement outlines our policies, practices, and efforts in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our Commitment

We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings. We understand the importance of maintaining robust procedures to identify and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chain.

 Our Policies

1.   Ethical Labour Practices: We ensure that all workers on our estate are employed voluntarily, have the freedom to leave their employment, and are paid fairly and promptly. We comply with all relevant labour laws and regulations in India.

2.   Supplier Code of Conduct: We require all our suppliers to adhere to our standards regarding the prohibition of forced, bonded, or child labour. Our Supplier Code of Conduct is an integral part of our procurement process and is regularly reviewed and updated.

3.   Training and Awareness: We provide training to our employees to raise awareness of modern slavery issues and to ensure that they can identify and report potential risks.

4.   Reporting Mechanisms: We have established a clear procedure for reporting any concerns related to modern slavery. This includes a confidential whistleblowing mechanism for workers to raise issues without fear of retaliation.

Our Supply Chain

Our supply chain includes local suppliers and distributors who provide us with goods and services necessary for the cultivation and processing of our coffee. We recognise that our responsibility extends beyond our direct operations and are committed to working with our suppliers to promote transparency and fair practices throughout the supply chain.

Due Diligence

To mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain, we implement the following due diligence processes:

-   Risk Assessment : We conduct regular risk assessments to identify and address potential areas of concern within our supply chain.

-   Supplier Audits: We perform periodic audits of our suppliers to ensure compliance with our ethical standards and policies.

-   Corrective Action: If any instances of non-compliance are identified, we work closely with the supplier to develop and implement corrective actions. Continued non-compliance may result in termination of the business relationship.

 Looking Forward

We are committed to continuously improving our practices to combat modern slavery. As we grow and expand our business in the UK market, we will:

- Regularly review and update our policies and procedures to ensure their effectiveness.

- Engage with stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and customers, to promote a culture of transparency and accountability.

- Report annually on our progress and efforts to combat modern slavery.
